If your funnel isn’t converting, the problem might not be your emails, your tech setup, or even your sales strategy. The real issue? You might be trying to sell the wrong offer through your funnel.
Funnels do work, but only when you plug in the right kind of offer. The first mistake most entrepreneurs make is assuming that any offer can be automated. But the truth is, front-facing funnels (especially ones designed to convert cold leads) require a very specific type of offer.
So what makes an offer funnel-ready?
1. It solves a clear, immediate problem.
If someone new to your world can’t look at your offer and instantly understand the benefit, your funnel will flop. This is not the place for vague transformations or layered solutions. Keep it direct and tangible.
2. It’s a self-contained transformation.
Your funnel offer needs to stand on its own. No ongoing support required. If 1,000 people bought it tomorrow, you should be able to deliver it without breaking a sweat.
3. It should already sell (or the positioning should).
If you’ve already sold this offer in a launch, great. If not, your messaging needs to be sharp and proven. A funnel is not the place to test completely unvalidated ideas.
4. The buyer needs to be aware + ready.
Your funnel should warm them up. That’s the point. Don’t expect cold leads to be ready for your full-blown program immediately. That’s why low-ticket or tripwire-style offers work so well here.
5. A few emails are enough, if they’re customized.
You don’t need a 30-email sequence. You need the right messages, sent at the right time, to the right segment. That’s where behavior-based logic comes in.
At the end of the day, your funnel should feel like a conversation, not a script. And it all starts with choosing the right offer.
